Local children and parents anxiously waiting for Chuck E. Cheese’s to open don’t have too much longer to wait.

The CEC Entertainment Inc. company plans to open Chuck E. Cheese’s on Northwest Myhre Road in Silverdale during the first week of September. Construction is currently underway on the establishment.

Brenda Holloway, CEC Entertainment Inc. spokeswoman, said the company carefully picks locations for future sites. Currently, there are 10 Chuck E. Cheese’s locations in Washington with the nearest location in Tacoma.

“We don’t have a lot in Washington, so that’ll definitely be a real nice location there (Silverdale),” she said. “We look for densely populated areas containing families with children ages 2-11.”

Chuck E. Cheese’s features animated stage shows, games and indoor rides for children. The business is a popular spot for children’s birthday parties, organizational parties and school fund-raisers.

“Parents and kids of all ages can enjoy Chuck E. Cheese’s one-of-a-kind animated stage show starring the magical mouse and his friends. Come for dinner and stay for lots of fun entertainment including skill and video games and skytubes,” Holloway said. “Cool indoor rides include a hovering helicopter, Wasteland and Mad Motion Theater.”

Pizza, a variety of sandwiches, a salad bar and various desserts are just a few of the food items served at the establishment. By playing games, children can earn tickets which can be traded for various prizes.

CEC Entertainment Inc. currently employs 17,000 full- and part-time workers. Hiring for the Silverdale location began July 31. CEC Entertainment Inc. looks to hire 50-75 full- and part-time employees ranging from general manager, manager, opening coordinator and various hourly positions. Interested candidates may submit their applications online at www.cec-careers.com or at the on-site construction trailer on Northwest Myhre Road in Silverdale.

The first Chuck E. Cheese’s Pizza Time Theatre opened in 1977 in San Jose, Calif. CEC Entertainment Inc. now has 531 locations throughout the United States and Canada.

Chuck E. Cheese’s in Silverdale will not have a formal grand opening, but eager children and parents will happily play games and eat pizza at the 30-year-old family friendly establishment.

“We hope the people in Silverdale will be happy to see us,” Holloway said.
