"The Economic Development Council of Kitsap County hopes its annual membership meeting will attract some new faces along with the usual crowd of business and commerce leaders. The luncheon gathering March 21 in Silverdale will feature the annual presentations of awards and reports on the state of the county's economy, plus the election of new officers for the coming year. Those are all important matters, but not quite all EDC hopes for from the meeting, a spokesman said. These meetings tend to involve the usual members of the business community, and this year we'd like to add to that by attracting some new people who might have some new ideas, give us some new blood, said Kevin Dwyer, director of business recruitment and marketing.EDC executive director Warren Olson encouraged input from ordinary citizens, local business people and government officials.Olson said the meeting is an opportunity not only to hear what EDC has been working on this part year, but to provide insight and suggestions on what needs to be done.Eight companies are in the running for an EDC award for outstanding business practices - Olympic Resource Management, Ateci, Deposit Software, e-Acceleration Software, Steelhead Productions, Herronswood Nursery and Leader Technology. Another award will be presented to a businessperson for his or her support of economic development. Candidates haven't been announced."
