LA Weight Loss Centers opens in Silverdale

The holiday season is upon us and for many, so are the pounds.

LA Weight Loss Center recently opened its doors in Silverdale to help people lose unwanted weight that they’ve so desperately tried to lose.

“I love the program, I’ve tried everything else and this is what works,” said Donna Smith, a counselor at LA Weight Loss Centers who started as a client.

Unlike most programs LA Weight Loss Centers, located next to TJ Maxx, allows clients to eat what they want by fitting a tailored menu program into their lifestyle. One-on-one counseling and products to enhance the program such as nutritional bars, shakes, soups and drinks called LA Lites also help clients drop the pounds. Each client follows their own tailored menu plan and it is the client’s choice to use the nutritional products.

“It’s a lifestyle change, not just weight loss,” said divisional manager Laurinda Beavers. “We know people are going to eat a certain way, they can still do it and that’s what makes (the program) successful.”

After the initial appointment, clients come in three times a week for a 10- to 15-minute private consultation, at a time that is convenient for the client with no appointment necessary. During each visit a counselor takes the person’s weight, blood pressure, measurements and reviews their food diary. By following a menu plan, each client is guaranteed to lose two pounds a week and the overall weight loss is done in three steps: Losing the weight, quickly and safely; stabilizing by transitioning to a plan that helps keep the weight off; and then maintaining the weight loss. During the weekly meetings counselors help clients stay focused on losing weight with encouragement and support to overcome challenges and clients can purchase optional nutritional products during the meetings.

Stabilization is a six-week process that occurs after the client has reached their weight loss goal. During stabilization, the client gradually increases the amount of calories consumed by increasing sizes and variety of foods.

The final step, maintenance, is used to provide clients with continued knowledge, support and lifelong habits for healthy eating.

“It’s very successful, we have skinny people popping up all over the place now,” said Stacey Hovland, assistant manager. “It’s really awesome to come to work and watch people succeed.”

The total amount of weight that people lose by visiting LA Weight Loss Centers varies. Some people come in to lose 10 pounds and some people would like to lose 100 pounds, Beavers said.

There are currently more than 325 corporate and 275 franchised LA Weight Loss Centers in the United States, Canada and Europe.

The average cost to take part in the weight loss program is $7 per week and may vary as there are often specials available. For more information call (360) 307-0206.
