Relieving stress, one massage at a time

Tracy Seegrist, owner of Tuscany Bodyworks, has made it her mission to relieve pain and stress.

A former employee of the Sheriff’s records department, Seegrist knew stress first hand and decided to learn how to help others lower theirs.

“I went through a stressful time and I needed something less stressful,” she said.

After deciding she needed a career change, Seegrist went to manicurist school and then recieved her aesthetic license. She later attended Ashmead College and became a licensed massage practitioner. She specializes in massage, spa treatment, facials, waxing, manicures and pedicures.

She moved her business this past month, which was formerly named New Beginnings Day Spa, from Carlton Street to Silverdale Way, renaming it Tuscany Bodyworks along the way.

She derived the word “Tuscany” from her best friend Cathy Capatan’s salon, Montecatini, which is located next door. This summer they plan to offer full salon spa packages.

“Clients can receive spa services and then go next door and get their hair and nails done,” Seegrist said.

Of the services she offers she says that it is massage that she enjoys doing the most.

“(Massage) is my favorite because it’s results-oriented,” Seegrist said. “If someone comes in with pain you can either dissipate it or make it go away. It’s a wonderful feeling to know you had a part in that.”

She offers half-hour and one-hour full body massages and injury treatment as well.

And the results she sees are rewarding.

“I had a customer in her mid-40s and she left a message saying she felt like a 20-year-old,” Seegrist said. “We get some that get re-energized.”

With all services she offers, whether it’s a facial or a massage, she says she is sure to educate her clients about the benefits of a service and how to maintain that service at home.

“It doesn’t matter what the service is, they will be educated,” she said. “People need to know.”

Tuscany Bodyworks is located next to the Silverdale American Marine Bank branch and is open by appointment only. For more information or to set up an appointment, call Seegrist at (360) 692-6927.
