Central Kitsap Community Council meeting:

The Central Kitsap Community Council will hold a regular meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Water and Fire District Community Room, 5300 NW Newberry Hill Road, Silverdale. The meeting will include presentations from the Kitsap County Caregiver Support Group and the Bremerton/Central Kitsap Ferry Advisory Committee, a progress report on the YMCA in Silverdale and a discussion of the process for boundary adjustments of the county commissioner districts as a result of the 2010 Census.

Old Town Silverdale Holiday Walkabout:

The Old Town Silverdale Holiday Walkabout will take place in Old Town Silverdale from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. More than 10 venues in Old Town will feature work for purchase from a variety of local artists. The free event coincides with the arrival of the holiday lighted ships at the Silverdale Waterfront Park at 8:30 p.m.

Senior holiday lunch in East Bremerton:

Chuckwagon Senior Nutrition Program invites those age 60 and older to a holiday lunch on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Lunch will be served at 12 p.m. at Pinewood Manor Apartments, 280 Sylvan Way, Bremerton. The menu will include broccoli salad, baked ham, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, mixed vegetables, mixed grain bread and sherbet. There is a $3 suggested donation and reservations are required by 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14 by calling (360) 377-8511. There will be piano entertainment to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Candle Lighting Ceremony in Silverdale:

The annual Candle Lighting Ceremony in remembrance of children who have died at any age begins at 6 p.m. Sunday. The international ceremony is hosted by the Silverdale chapter of The Compassionate Friends at Silverdale Lutheran Church, 11701 Ridgepoint Drive NW. Families are encouraged to bring photos to display and close friends are also invited. For more information, call Carolyn at (360) 692-0217.

Bremerton AARP driver safety program:

Bay Pointe Retirement Community in Bremerton will sponsor an AARP driver safety program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 4 and 5. Attendance on both days is required for the refresher course for drivers over age 50. Most insurance companies offer a discount to those who complete the course. The program is open to the public and the cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-mebers. Call Marcia Brown at (360) 373-9904 to register.

Migraine headache forum:

A one-hour “meet, eat and greet” with Dr. Michael Wagner at Upper Cervical Health Centers of America, 9615 Levin Road, Suite 100, Silverdale to learn how upper cervical doctors have been helping patients with migraine headaches will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 22. The forum is free and open to residents of all ages who experience migraine headaches. Call (360) 692-3800 to reserve a spot.

Registration for Silverdale Goodwill classes begin:

Silverdale Goodwill’s Job Training and Education Center, located at 10001 Mickelberry Road NW. inside the Goodwill store, will register residents from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 15 to 17 for free classes in the eight-week session that runs from Jan. 3 through Feb. 24, 2011.

Introductory computer classes include lessons on computer basics, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Internet and e-mail use. No prior computer experience is necessary. A class on career building assistance is also offered.

Mrs. Claus visit at Tracyton Community Library:

Mrs. Claus will be visiting and reading stories to children at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Tracyton Community Library. Refreshments will be served. The library is located at 351 NW Tracy Ave., Bremerton.

Holiday dance performances:

Students of Irene’s School of Dance in Silverdale will perform six “Happy Holidays” programs at Central Kitsap High School’s auditorium. Performances are 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dec. 17, and 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 18.

Each program is one hour and will feature a variety of dance styles including ballet, pointe, jazz, modern and tap, followed by refreshments. Admission is free. For more information, call (360) 692-4395.

Kitsap Senior Singles gathering:

All seniors are welcome to dine together at the Rolling Hills Golf Restaurant at 1 p.m. Dec. 19 for a holiday get-together. The restaurant is located at 2483 NE McWilliams Road, Bremerton. For more information call Rublee at (360) 698-1175.

Kitsap Democratic Women holiday luncheon:

The Kitsap Democratic Women will enjoy their holiday luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ambrosia Catering Company, 4954 State Highway 303 NE, Bremerton. The price is $16 and the luncheon is open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring toiletry items for donation to a local women’s shelter. WWU environmental studies degree info session:

An information session of Western Washington University’s Huxley College of the Environment of the Peninsula’s environmental studies degree is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Bremer Student Center at Olympic College. Those interested in learning how to become a teacher in Washington state can receive information on Western Washington University’s elementary teaching program at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the WWU office conference room at Olympic College.
