Running Start information night at Olympic College:

Olympic College will host Running Start Information Night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 17 at the Bremer Student Center on Olympic College’s Bremerton campus. The information night will be open to all high school students and their parents or guardians.

Masons shamrock dinner:

The Free and Accepted Masons of Washington will have its 10th Annual Shamrock Dinner beginning at 6 p.m. March 12 at Bremerton Lodge #117, 878 Fifth Street, Bremerton. There is a $12 suggested donation and the dinner is a fundraiser that supports the lodge as well as other programs including GED and high school scholarships. ‘West Side Story’ at Klahowya:

Klahowya Secondary School’s vocal and drama departments will perform the musical, “West Side Story,” Friday and Saturday. Both shows begin at 7 p.m. and will be at the school’s theater, 7607 Newberry Hill Road NW, Silverdale. Tickets are available at the Klahowya bookkeeper’s office or at the door. Student tickets cost $10 and general admission is $12. The musical is recommended for ages 12 and older.

Kitsap Walk MS:

Kitsap Walk MS will be held April 2 at Klahowya Secondary School, 7607 Newberry Hill Road, Silverdale. People can walk the three miles as a registered team, or as an individual participant. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9:30 a.m. For more information, visit

Irish music show at the Admiral:

Dervish, one of Ireland’s tradition-rooted bands, will be performing at the Admiral Theatre Friday. A pre-show dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. with the performance following at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $19 to $60 and can be purchased by calling (360) 373-6743 or by visiting the ticket office at 515 Pacific Ave. Ticket office hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Junior Firefighter Stair Climb:

The Junior Firefighter Stair Climb will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 12 and will benefit 4-year-old Hunter Smith, who is fighting leukemia. The event will take place at Bremerton Fire Department Station One, 911 Park Ave., Bremerton. Children ages three to 12 will be able to climb the three-story tower in bunker gear. There will be games, tours of the station and the opportunity to take a photo with Sparky, the fire dog. There is a $10 suggested donated. Photo exhibit at Olympic College:

An exhibit showcasing Olympic College photography students’ work, “The World as We Know It,” will run through May 13 on the second floor of the Haselwood Library at Olympic College’s Bremerton campus. General admission is free. S.O.N. luncheon

A general membership luncheon for the Sons of Norway will be held at the Oslo Lodge, 1018 18th Street, Bremerton beginning at 11:30 a.m. March 15. The guest speaker will be Maj. Jim Baker from the Bremerton Salvation Army and the lunch will be catered by CJ’s Evergreen Store and Catering Service. The event is sponsored by Ameriprise Financial Services and the Kitsap 9/11 Memorial Project. Cost is $22 per person.

Central Kitsap Community Council meeting:

The Central Kitsap Community Council will hold a regular meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. March 16 at the Water and Fire District Community Room, 5300 NW Newberry Hill Road, Silverdale. The meeting will include an introduction of the new Silverdale librarian, presentations about the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce’s goals and objectives for the year and issues involved in the remand of Kitsap County’s Comprehensive Plan. Armed Forces Day race in Bremerton:

Ebenezer A.M.E. Church’s second annual Armed Forces Day 5K Run/2 Mile Walk is scheduled on Armed Forces Day on May 21 in downtown Bremerton at the corner of Warren Avenue and Fourth Street. The race is scheduled to coincide with the city’s Armed Forces Day Parade. Late registration begins at 6:30 a.m. The race will begin at 7:30 a.m. Individual adult race entry is $30 and $15 for children up to the age of 12. Seminar on Kitsap trees:

Jim Trainer, a certified arborist, will share his knowledge about Kitsap trees as part a series of Third Wednesday Seminars. It will be from 1 to 3 p.m. March 16 at The Eagles Nest, 1200 NE Fairgrounds Road, Bremerton. Trainer has more than 30 years of experience with trees and currently owns and operates Treez Inc., which is committed to preserving and enhancing the environment. He will have copies of his book, “Kitsap Trees” for sale after the seminar. Seminar attendance counts for continuing education credit for Master Gardner certification. It is free and open to the public.

Women’s History Month breakfast celebration:

The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility’s Professional Women’s Employee Networking Group and the Bangor Women’s Networking Group, along with Women In Trades and the Keyport Federal Women’s Program are celebrating Women’s History Month. The celebration breakfast takes place from 7 to 8:15 a.m. on Friday at the Kitsap Conference Center at Bremerton Harborside, 100 Washington Avenue, Bremerton.
