Celebrate salmon return on Sat. Nov. 10

November 6, 2012 · 11:30 AM

Kitsap Salmon Tours will host an event to celebrate the return of salmon to Kitsap County on Sat. Nov 10.

The event will take place in two locations along Chico Creek in Bremerton, at country club hill road and the Mountaineers Forest Theater property.

Admission is free, and visitors are encouraged to stop by any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for refreshments and activities.

Visitors can browse informational booths, watch salmon swimming in the creek and tour a restoration site.

Biologists will be on hand to talk about the different types of salmon in Kitsap County, the life of a salmon and what a healthy fish habitat looks like. These talks will be repeated at the top of every hour.

For visitors stopping by the Mountaineers property, a short hike down to the creek through old growth forest is involved. Guests should wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
