Treatment plant to be discussed

An Open House is set for  7 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Central Kitsap Treatment Plant near Keyport to explain the planned improvements at the Central Kitsap Treatment Plant in Brownsville.

The project has a two main purposes. It addresses necessary repairs and rehabilitation of outdated, inefficient, and undersized sewage treatment equipment and incorporates processes that allow the recovery for beneficial use from the waste streams.

Representatives at the meeting include the Project Engineer, the site superintendent for the contractor, the construction manager and the design engineer from Brown and Caldwell.

Ground-breaking for the construction of the $29 million project is expected in early March. Work on the project is expected to continue through June, 2015.
