Spots still open for Kitsap County Youth Fishing Derby

Hundreds of children will have the opportunity to catch the big one at the 2008 Kitsap County Youth Fishing Derby Saturday, June 21.

Kitsap County Parks and Recreation is partnering with the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation and local organizations to again offer the “Take Me Fishing” program in Kitsap County.

The Youth Fishing Derby will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 21 at Island Lake County Park in Poulsbo. The event is for boys and girls ages 5-14. All participants will receive a Zebco rod and reel and Fishing Kids T-shirt.

The event costs $5 per participant. Children will be fishing in groups of 60 every 45 minutes and volunteer guides will be available to help.

Only 300 spots are available for the fishing derby and the registration deadline is Friday, June 13.
