Bremerton’s Elk’s Lodge will hold its annual free-throw contest Saturday at Ridgetop Junior High School, 10600 Hillsboro Drive NE, Silverdale. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the players will hit the court at 10 a.m.

There will be categories for kids ages 8 and 9, 10 and 11, and 12 and 13.

The “Hoop Shoot” program is a national program in which three million children compete in a year. This is the 38th year the event has been held.

Winners from the tournament will advance to the district competition and have a chance to compete at the state, regional and national levels.

One boy and one girl in each category will be crowned champion at the national final in Springfield, Mass. and their six names will be inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
