New, old Neutralboy: ‘Best Sex Ever’

New disc, new members, same old tunes.

The first Neutralboy album, “Weapons of Mass Seduction,” kicks off with a snide query from a condesending counselor...

“How does it feel to be growing old... out-living drugs, sex and rock and roll?”

Friday night at Winterland — as the Bremerton band hosts the hometown release for its third disc “Best Sex Ever” — that query is answered, revealing just how miserable misery can be, culminating under the viaduct.

The album is the third piece in a story of obsession and manic depression set up by Neutralboy’s first two albums — “Weapons” (2005) and “Everybody Dies” (2007).

“It’s about addiction,” frontman Michael Frottage said. “Whether it’s sex, whether it’s drugs, whether it’s booze... that’s what it’s all about. It’s all about bouncing from thing to thing.”

Neutralboy has bounced through band members of late, with a near completely different line-up from a year ago, revolving around Frottage.

But the songs remain steadfast.
