Kitsap Regional Library’s Silverdale branch staff will take advantage of the Memorial Day weekend to replace their old carpet with new environmentally friendly carpet and will be closed Saturday, May 23 in addition to their usual Sunday closure and Monday holiday closure.

“We are very excited about our new carpeting,” interim branch manager John Fossett said. “Our old carpet has been here a long time and shows it, despite cleaning and maintenance. We want our library to be an inviting and welcoming place. What is great about the new carpet is that it is extremely durable and easily replaceable in sections. This way we can just replace the sections that have higher traffic, and can keep the carpet looking its best for a long time.”

The carpet to be installed also is environmentally friendly. It contains low volatile organic compounds in its adhesive which means it will release fewer irritants into the atmosphere and is the best for indoor air quality.

The Silverdale branch will open on Tuesday, May 26 at 10 a.m. with normal operating hours.
