The Accolades Awards Gala is the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce’s annual event honoring the best and brightest of Silverdale and Central Kitsap as nominated by members of the community.

The Chamber recently announced the Accolades winners:

Business of the Year

This year's Business of the Year goes to the Central Kitsap Food Bank for during what must be a very trying time, their staff managed to make and maintain strong community relationships in order to meet and fulfill their mission. Their leadership comes from many facets of the community and they do make a significant contribution to the community.

Citizen of the Year

The award goes to Diana Bowers of StandUp for Kids and the Central Kitsap Food Bank. She is endlessly working with the homeless kids in the community and county, feeding them hot meals and enrolling them in school.

Paul G. Linder Service Award for Chamber Member of the Year

This year's Chamber Member of the Year is Linda Knowlton from LK’s Auto Repair. She is the new chair of the Ambassador committee and is always willing to step forward and ask if there is something she can help with. She works hard to make new members feel welcome. She is extremely helpful when things are shorthanded and encourages others to do the same. She is supportive of the organization through her attendance and assistance with lunches and After-Hours events.

“A Night in the Islands” 2009 Accolades Gala is Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Silverdale Beach Hotel.

Entertainment, silent auction, awards presentation and more. Tickets are $50 each. Wear your favorite hula skirt or King Kamehameha headwear.
