Lisa Lynn Hitchings of Poulsbo died on Oct.31, 2005. She was born Sept. 7, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. Lisa graduated from Valley High School and attended Iowa State University. She joined Sound Publishing, Inc. in 1992 after relocating to the Pacific Northwest from Des Moines. She initially served as office manager at the Bainbridge Island Review. Lisa quickly learned the publishing industry and became a marketing representative for the Central Kitsap Reporter, followed by a promotion to ad manager. She was most recently publisher for three newspapers: The Central Kitsap Reporter, the Bremerton Patriot, and the Northwest Navigator. She was very active in the Silverdale community and served as president of the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce in 2000 and 2001. Lisa is survived by her daughter, Kelsey Hitchings of Poulsbo, Washington; her parents, Tom and Nancy Farris of Carmel, Indiana and Judy and Rand Thacker of Waukee, Iowa; brother and sister, Tom Farris and Lori Brink of Des Moines, Iowa; and, sister, Eden Dicht of Ankeny, Iowa. A service honoring Lisa’s life is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2005, at Silverdale United Methodist Church, 9982 Silverdale Way, Silverdale. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations earmarked “Colorectal Cancer Research” go to: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Contributions, J5-200, P.O. Box 19024, Seattle, WA 98109-1024.
