Redmond man robs Bellevue friend with a gun in Bremerton

A Redmond man reportedly robbed a Bellevue friend of his cash on Burwell Street Monday by flashing his handgun after inviting him to Bremerton.

The 18-year-old Bellevue man told police the 20-year-old Redmond man had invited him to spend the weekend in Bremerton with him, but he didn’t come until Monday, according to Bremerton police reports. He left his car in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Burwell Street and called the 20-year-old to let him know he was there. The 20-year-old them walked out of an apartment complex, demanded all the cash in the 18-year-old’s car and lifted his coat to show a handgun tucked in his waist band. The 18-year-old gave the man about $400 and drove away.

While police interviewed the 18-year-old, the 20-year-old called and left a voice message, threatening to kill the 18-year-old and his family for talking to police.

Police found probable cause to arrest the 20-year-old for investigation of robbery and forwarded the case to prosecutors.
