Three men were arrested at the Silverdale Garbage and Recycling Facility Jan. 20 after being caught dumpster diving by sheriff’s deputies.

The search for the men began when a Kitsap County deputy found an abandoned car in the parking lot of Silverdale Elementary School at 1:39 a.m., according to reports. Deputies then checked the nearby waste facility and found a man running away. After he was arrested, another deputy found two others near the waste containers wearing gloves. The men, two from Seabeck and one from Belfair, entered the facility by crawling under the fence.

The men were taken to the Kitsap County jail for investigation of trespassing. One of the men was booked on an additional charge of possessing methamphetamine.
