Man accused of gunning down cat arrested for possessing firearm
February 18, 2011 · 1:40 PM
A 47-year-old man, angry at a cat for scratching him, allegedly killed the cat and was arrested Feb. 6 for illegal possession of a firearm. The Silverdale man, a convicted felon prohibited from handling firearms, was also booked for violating a protection order, according to reports from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
The man denied killing the cat, but witnesses said after the female cat had attacked a dog, the man told friends he planned to shoot it. The friends, who had been drinking with the man at his residence in the 10000 block of Willamette-Meridian Road NW, said they had become increasingly wary of the man’s behavior, and left after he asked someone to hold the cat while he killed it with a shotgun.
Friends of the man’s roommate later returned to the house to fetch the cat, which they could not locate. They did find the cat’s kittens and took them.
