March 4, 2011 · 3:35 PM
Two brothers, a 20-year-old and 17-year-old from East Bremerton, were arrested Feb. 26 after the younger brother lied about the whereabouts of his older brother, wanted for deserting the Army.
At 10:33 a.m., emergency dispatchers were alerted by the United States Army Deserter Information Point that an Army deserter may be at a house in the 1300 block of Northwest Silver Street, according to reports from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
After deputies knocked on the front door several times, a 24-year-old woman opened the door, saying she was the 20-year-old’s girlfriend. She said only the 17-year-old brother was in the house. The 17-year-old told deputies several times his brother was not in the house. The woman later admitted to deputies the 20-year-old was upstairs.
The 20-year-old was arrested without incident and his younger brother was taken to Kitsap County juvenile detention for investigation of rendering criminal assistance.
