Abby Carey, 18, along with other students at Central Kitsap High School are helping to raise money to help the people of Japan following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
President of the school’s environmental club, Carey said the group has been collecting money for the American Red Cross and have gathered $514 on Tuesday.
“They need all the help they can get,” Carey said.
The students began fundraising last March 17 by going around the school with empty soup containers, asking their peers to donate. Other projects the club has been a part of include helping maintain Clear Creek Trail in Silverdale and organizing the plastic recycle program at the high school.
