Although not a city, Silverdale now has itself a new slogan. “Rural roots, urban flair” was selected from more than 95 entries the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce and the Clear Creek Task Force received for the community’s slogan contest.
The winning entry was created by a Silverdale resident who wants to remain anonymous, Mary Earl with the task force said Wednesday. The resident also chose to give the first place prizes, various items and gift certificates from Chamber member businesses, to the runner-ups.
The new slogan will appear on the refurbished north entrance welcome sign on Silverdale Way near the Silverdale Dog Park. However, how soon it will appear depends on the weather, Earl said.
“I can’t paint when it’s raining and below 40 degrees,” she said. “We’re standing by with paint cans and brushes.”
Runner-up entries for the slogan contest included “Small town pride, big city opportunities” by Jerry Mattoon and “Your treasure awaits” by Theresa Haaland.
