Central Kitsap High School and Klahowya Secondary School made this year’s list of America’s Best High Schools published by The Washington Post, according to a statement from the Central Kitsap School District.
Central Kitsap has earned a spot on the list for the ninth year with this being Klahowya’s second year.
Of all public schools in the country, the list makes up 7 percent of public schools.
Schools earn spots on the list based on a “challenge index,” which is based on a formula dividing the number of Advance Placement tests a schools gives by the number of graduating seniors.
This year Central Kitsap ranked 362 nationally, up 78 spots from last year with Klahowya ranking 1,405, also up from last year.
