A Memorial Day ceremony will be held aboard the historic destroyer, USS Turner Joy, in Bremerton at 10 a.m. Monday. The public is invited to attend the event that will feature “Taps” and a rifle salute by the Peninsula Veterans Color and Honor Guard, remarks from a local active duty commander and the laying of the memorial wreath to remember those who have served and fallen for the country.

The USS Turner Joy is located on the downtown Bremerton waterfront and parking is available at the Kitsap Conference Center near the ferry terminal. Coffee and donuts will be provided following the ceremony on board the ship in the crew’s mess.

The ceremony is sponsored by the Bremerton-Olympic Peninsula Council of the US Navy League and the council’s vice president, Tim Katona, will serve as the master of ceremonies.
