Criminal charges possible for wrestler who exposed himself in yearbook

Kitsap County prosecutors will decide whether to bring criminal charges against a Central Kitsap High School wrestler who allegedly exposed himself in a team photo published in the school's yearbook.

A Kitsap sheriff's deputy who reviewed the photo Thursday reported that it appeared the student, 18, was intentionally pulling down his shorts to expose part of his genitals, according to a report released Friday.

A phone message left on the student's cell phone Friday afternoon was not immediately returned.

Sheriff's spokesman deputy Scott Wilson said the report had not been review by prosecutors yet, but if prosecuted, the teen could face indecent exposure charges, a misdemeanor.

After discovering the photo Thursday, the school issued a replacement photo, although not before distributing 300 copies, said David Beil, the district's spokesman.

The photo of the team depicted the varsity wrestler kneeling with the rest of the team.

The replacement photo is an adhesive sticker that covers the original shot.

The sticker covered the original photo in the remaining 600 copies before distribution Thursday.

A sticker was offered for those who had one of the first 300 copies.

"We take these matters very seriously, and we are currently processing this matter," Beil said.

Beil added that he had not heard of requests for refunds because a sticker was made to cover the entire original photo.
