Police were called to the Chieftain Motel in Bremerton June 23 after a 31-year-old man staying at the motel said a man outside his door was threatening to kill him with a shotgun.

When police arrived at 2:43 p.m., the 31-year-old was found alone in his room with his TV screen shattered. He told police that a man had been pounding on his door and threatened to kill him. He denied seeing a gun but said he was familiar with the sound a shotgun.

The motel manager said he had knocked on the 31-year-old’s door to wake him up and come down to work saying that if he did not show up, he would be fired. The 31-year-old works at the motel office and had been late to work on several occasions. Another man who was staying in a room nearby said the 31-year-old recently broke up with his girlfriend and may have had a mental breakdown.

The report was filed for information. No arrests were made.
