Man steals from Brownsville home and is found naked and intoxicated
An intoxicated man ran into a Brownsville home stealing a laptop while the family was home and was later found naked by sheriff’s deputies June 17.
The family lives on the 11200 block of Ogle Road and reported a burglary at its residence at about 10:17 p.m. A 20-year-old left her laptop in the family’s den while she went to the kitchen with her 56-year-old mother. They heard a “bang” noise which they thought came from the laundry room. The 20-year-old’s father was upstairs and also heard a loud noise. After checking the laundry room, when she returned to the den, her laptop was missing.
Deputies arrived and heard someone running through the woods near the house and yelled at the person to come out. A male voice responded and said he would reveal himself but asked if he could put his clothes on first. A deputy told the man to come out right away and a 38-year-old man appeared completely naked with the exception of wearing a baseball hat and boots.
The man claimed the theft was “just a joke” and that the reason he went into the house was because the 20-year-old waved at him to come in but when he went to the room, she was not there.
The laptop and the man’s clothes was tracked in the woods by a K9 and the computer was returned to the family. The 38-year-old also blamed his actions on alcohol saying that he was in the middle of a relapse. He said he was fully clothed when he entered the house but began undressing as he ran away. He couldn’t give an explanation for why he removed his clothes.
The man was arrested for first-degree burglary because a knife was found in his pants pocket which meant he was armed during the robbery. He was also booked into Kitsap County jail for second-degree theft.
