More than 40 percent of all traffic fatalities in the state involve speeding, and as warmer weather brings out pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, law enforcement officers in Kitsap will be on the hunt for speeders this month.

Between July 15 and August 7, officers will be targeting speeders, according to a statement from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

“Obeying speed limits is something everyone can do to support highway safety in Washington,” Lowell Porter, director of the commission, said in the statement.
