The Bremerton Art Commission is looking for a new member to fill a vacancy as soon as possible, according to a statement from the city.

The seven-member volunteer board administers the city’s “1 percent for Art” program that buys public art with 1 percent of the money used for city construction projects.

Commission members must live within the city limits of Bremerton and have an art background.

Applications are available on the city website www.ci.bremerton.wa.us under “Volunteer Opportunities” on the upper left corner of the main page. Send completed applications to Pam Bykonen, Department of Community Development either by email to pam.bykonen@ci.bremerton.wa.us or by regular mail to Suite 600, Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 Sixth St., Bremerton, WA 98337.

The Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 100 Oyster Bay Road S in the Public Works Building Conference Room. The next meeting is July 14, 2011.
