A 21-year-old Bremerton woman was arrested July 6 after teaching a minor without a license how to drive.

A police on patrol noticed the brake light of a red Mercury vehicle not working and pulled the vehicle over at Olympic College on 16th Street and Broadway Avenue in Bremerton at about 6:40 p.m.

The male driver, a minor, told the officer he was not aware of the broken brake light and said he did not have a driver license. He did not have any form of identification with him. There were two passengers riding with him. One was another minor who had identification and was cleared by the officer through a records check. The other passenger was the 21-year-old woman, the owner of the vehicle, who said she was teaching the minor how to drive and knew he did not have a license.

After a records check on the 21-year-old woman was complete, a misdemeanor warrant was found. The warrant was confirmed with dispatchers and she was arrested on scene.

The minor who was driving was issued an infraction for defective brake lights and driving a vehicle without a valid license. He acknowledged his 15-day period to respond to the infractions.
