Bremerton couple woken up by neighbor notifying truck on fire

A 24-year-old Bremerton man and his fiancé were woken up by a neighbor’s knock at the front door July 6 to tell them their truck was on fire. There were no injuries.

The neighbor alerted them of the fire at about 1:48 a.m. and when they went outside, they saw that their 1982 Ford pickup was burning. The man was able to put the fire out with water and a towel. Their house is located on the 3000 block of Robin Avenue in Bremerton.

When police arrived, an officer observed the back left tire of the truck had been destroyed and there was some type of material in the gas tank filler neck. There were also expended fireworks on the driver’s side of the truck. About $500 worth of damage was caused to the truck.

The Bremerton Fire Department arrived and confirmed that the fire was extinguished. There were no suspects and the report was for information.
