Kitsap Transit will be removing the Admiral Pete from Foot Ferry service in August for vessel construction, the transit agency said this week.

Two smaller boats, the Admiral Jack and General Chesty, will operate in its place.

Because of the smaller capacity of the alternate boats, trips on both foot ferry routes will be revised and trips will be added to the Annapolis/Bremerton route.

Additional information on the date of the vessel change will be announced, as will temporary foot ferry schedules.

See www.kitsaptransit.org.

The Admiral Pete should return to service in late fall and will be 15 feet longer with a capacity for approximately 35 additional passengers and will have new, cleaner burning engines.
