Authorities are investigatiing a fire that gutted the Island Lake Park cabin and injured a fireman early Sunday morning.

Responding to a commercial structure fire shortly after 2 a.m., Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue firefighters found a fire, which started in exterior bathrooms had spread into the building.

The fire was quickly knocked down, according to Battalion Chief Robert Law. The actual log cabin had only smoke damage, he said.

Initial estimates by the fire department say damage was $250,000.

A contingent of Navy firefighter joined the three-hour battle that included 34 firefighters and 11 vehicles. One lieutenant injured a shoulder while fighting the fire from the roof of the "heavily" built cabin.
