From KITSAP NEWS Reports

The Kitsap County Clerk is encouraging passport applicants to apply for passports before the busy travel season begins.

Children younger than 14 years of age must have both parents present when applying, and if one parent is unable to attend, a notarized letter of consent must be provided.

No appointment is necessary to apply. The Kitsap County Clerk’s Office is located at the Kitsap County Administration Building, 619 Division Street, Port Orchard. Applications are accepted weekdays 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.

All passport applicants must provide proof of citizenship (typically a certified birth certificate copy or an old passport); identity (any form of valid photo identification); and two 2x2 headshot photos.

Application fees range from $52 for children up to 15 years of age to $67 for everyone 16 and older, plus a $30 processing fee for each passport. The passport and processing fees require separate checks or money orders.

Standard passport processing takes about six weeks. To expedite passports (about two weeks) requires an additional $60 per passport application.

Application forms can be downloaded from the U.S. Department of State passport Web site at http://travel.state.gov/passport/forms/forms_847.html.
