Central Kitsap School District board member Lee Ann Powers tendered her resignation, effective June 16, at Wednesday’s board meeting.

Powers is relocating outside the district and the board “reluctantly” accepted her letter of resignation.

Powers represents the district’s Area 5, which includes Cougar Valley Elementary, Green Mountain Elementary and Klahowya Secondary School.

The board has 90 days from June 16 to appoint a new board member who will serve out the duration of Powers’ term.

Applications for the vacancy will be open and information on how to obtain one should become available at the next board meeting on May 14, CKSD spokesman David Beil said.
