Flooding closes CK schools, numerous roads

Kitsap County Declared a county-wide state of emergency at 10 this morning due to flooding conditions. Parents of Central Kitsap School District students are encouraged to pick up their children. If possible, transportation will be provided, if not, students will remain at school until parents can pick them up or alternative safe transportation is available. Afternoon and evening activities are cancelled. We will begin transporting secondary students at noon, followed by elementary. There are not specific times for busses.

Also, Kitsap County offices will be closed under standard inclement weather policies for business for the remainder of the day.

Tonight’s regularly scheduled Board of County Commissioners meeting will be postponed to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Kitsap County Administration Building. 614 Division Street, Port Orchard.

“Public safety is our number one concern and while we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, we don’t want anyone to risk traveling during these dangerous conditions,” Kitsap County Board of Commissioners Chair Josh Brown said.
