Local residents to meet to discuss sex offender residence

Island Lake/Ridgetop residents in Silverdale are having a community meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at the Island Lake Community Center. Residents will be discussing their concerns regarding Ricardo Zamudio, a Level III sex offender who now resides in the 12000 block of Ridgepoint Drive NW.

Zamudio was convicted in 1993 of sexually abusing a male juvenile, raping a teenage girl in 1992 and convicted of sexual battery in California for the rape of an adult female in 1984, according to court documents. He declined to participate in sexual deviancy treatment while in prison and denies responsibility for committing his most recent offenses. While is prison, Zamudio committed 14 major inmate conduct infractions including extortion, strong-arming, possession of a controlled substance and fighting. He is associated with various security threat groups including Hispanic and Native American gangs. Zamudio has been assessed as a high risk to re-offend.

Island Lake/Ridgetop residents may take part in the community meeting, which more than 100 people are estimated to attend.
