SR 3/SR 303 interchange interchange completion date extended
June 11, 2008 · Updated 10:11 AM
Pushing forward with construction that has plagued the Waaga Way interchange in Silverdale with delays and closures, motorists can expect the northbound on-ramp from State Route 303 onto State Route 3 to be closed today and Thursday.
Were trying to do as much as we can when the weather is nice, said Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Assistant Project Engineer John LeFotu.
There will be a complete closure of the ramp from SR 303 to northbound SR 3 beginning at 8 a.m. today through tomorrow, Aug. 23, until paving operations are complete. A signed detour route will be in place for the duration of the closure, however the paving work is weather dependent. There should not be further impact to traffic during the rest of the week after paving has been completed.
Were still trying options to try to finish up as soon as we can, LeFotu added.
The construction is part of a project that will help improve the traffic flow by directly connecting SR 3 and SR 303. This new interchange, paired with the widening of the Kitsap Mall overpass and Clear Creek Road that took place in May, will move more vehicles through the new SR 3/SR 303 interchange and create less traffic delays.
Total costs for the project are estimated at $16.7 million with completion scheduled for the end of October.
