Detours scheduled for bridge demolition of the Kitsap Mall Boulevard and Waaga Way overpasses on State Route 3 have been moved one day earlier than previously reported.

Construction work will occur during the night on Monday-Wednesday, May 14-16. Detour signs will be in place for all nights of construction and various traffic revisions will be made. Crews will be setting girders for the State Route 303 Waaga Way over-crossing.

The northbound lanes of SR 3 will close at 10 p.m. Monday, May 14 until 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15. Southbound lanes of SR 3 will close at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15 until Wednesday, May 16. These southbound lanes also will be closed from 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 to 4:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17.

The construction occurring next week is part of a project that will help improve the traffic flow by directly connecting SR 3 and SR 303. This new interchange, along with the widening of the Kitsap Mall overpass and Clear Creek Road, will move more vehicles through the new SR 3/SR 303 interchange and create less traffic delays.

Cost for the project is estimated at $16.7 million and is expected to be completed in September 2007.
