CK schools to open for two make-up days

Central Kitsap School District announced schools will operate on Monday, Jan. 28, and Friday, Feb. 15 to make up for closures in December.
Schools in Central Kitsap were closed on Dec. 19 and 21 for snow and icy road conditions.
The district schedules multiple snow make-up days each school year for events like this, so the calendar doesn't have to be adjusted in the case of snow closures. The days are designated as non-student days, but if school must be closed for some reason earlier in the year the days are re-designated.
Friday, Feb. 15, will act as a furlough make-up day for the furlough day students missed right before winter break. Because Feb. 15 is a furlough day, students will only attend for half the day.
The school district said it will share information on future make-up days if anymore cancellations occur this winter.
There will be no classes on Monday, Jan. 21, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
