A four-year-old girl is fighting for her life at Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale. The Seabeck girl was brought to the hospital last night after sustaining a subdural hematoma.

A subdural hematoma occurs after the brain suffers a traumatic injury, leading to bleeding underneath the outer layer of the brain. It is a life-threatening injury.

Kitsap County Sheriff's Department reports that the girl was airlifted to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Seattle where she underwent emergency surgery. However, during the course of the surgery, doctors realized there wasn't much that could be done to help the child, the Sheriff's office said.

The Sheriff's office said the girl is not expected to survive.

The boyfriend of the child's mother was arrested for 1st degree assault of a child, and bail was set at $500,000.
