A driver nearly flipped over a school bus into a ditch on Highway 305 Tuesday afternoon on Bainbridge Island.
No one was injured in the accident. A Bainbridge Island police officer said the driver was the only one aboard the bus at the time of the mishap.
The accident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. Feb. 5. A driver in a Central Kitsap School District bus was traveling south on the highway when the the vehicle's tires sank into the soft shoulder of the road and the weight of the bus titled the vehicle toward the roadside. The driver of the bus is believed to have been pulling over to the side of the road to allow an ambulance to pass.
The State Patrol is currently at the scene, and traffic is slowing in both directions on the highway near the accident, just south of Hidden Cove Road.
