February 7, 2013 · 10:52 AM

More than 30 percent of the registered voters in the Silverdale incorporation area have returned their ballots as of Wednesday, said Michael Aguirre elections analyst for the Kitsap County Elections office.

As of mid-day Wednesday, the office had received 2,904 ballots of the 9,696 mailed to registered voters in the incorporation area. Ballots were mailed Jan. 23 and are due back to the elections office by Feb. 12.

There are two 24-hour drop-off sites for voters to return their ballots to: in Silverdale at Central Kitsap School District Administration building, 9210 Silverdale Way NW, and in Port Orchard at the Kitsap County Auditor’s office, election division, 619 Division St., at the corner of Cline Street and Division Avenue. Ballots can be left at either location until 8 p.m. on election day.

The election is a mail-in ballot only, but persons with disabilities or needing help can go to the elections office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Feb.11 and again on election day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to get assistance. Handicapped accessible voting units will be available.
