"Washington Conservation Voters are taking aim at several Kitsap County legislators who might vote to delay implementation of state shoreline regulations. At the top of their list are Sen. Betti Sheldon, D-23rd District, and Rep. Beverly Woods, R-23rd District. Washington Conservation Voters political director John Wyble said there are several seemingly innocuous pieces of legislation under consideration in Olympia that the shoreline regulation delay could be attached to.The 27-year-old Shoreline Management Act is expected to be updated soon to reflect new scientific understanding of the fragile shoreline ecosystem, and new Endangered Species Act regulations protecting salmon. But the legislature hasn't adopted the new changes yet, and Wyble's group is concerned that legislators will vote to put it off another year."
