Washington Mutual bank on Silverdale Way N.W. was robbed late afternoon Thursday.

The suspect, described as a 5-foot 9-inch white male, is still at large, according to the Sheriff’s officials.

The call to CenCom came a little after 4 p.m. to report that the lone robber had held-up the bank, said Sheriff’s officials. No gun or weapon was brandished. It was not known at press time whether the suspect escaped on foot or had a car waiting, said Sgt. Steve Sipple, one of several officers on scene moments after the crime.

Neither the Sheriff’s department nor the bank would comment on how much cash was stolen.

Tellers in the bank were rattled by the event and declined to comment or have their pictures taken.

Mary Kelley, a spokeswoman for Washington Mutual headquartered in Seattle, declined to add much to what deputies on the scene reported.

“I can’t tell you how much was taken” at this point, she said in a phone interview Friday.

Sgt. Earl Smith is in charge of the investigation, but could not be reached by press time.
