Tracyton Port cross scheduled?
June 11, 2008 · Updated 12:36 PM
Walt Fitzpatrick, the ports only elected commissioner, has changed his mind and has scheduled a port meeting Aug. 14, 7 p.m., at the Tracyton Library. Formerly, the commissioner had cancelled all meetings for the rest of the year, while the county commissioners-appointed port commissioner, Gary Keenan, had been holding the last few meetings regularly. He has a seperate meeting planned same time, Aug. 14, same location.
Kitsap County Commissioner Patty Lent is asking Tracyton residents who live in the Port of Tracyton District 1 to apply for appointment to that vacant position on the three-member Port Commission.
The port board is suffering from the lack of a quorum or majority. Without a quorum, no action can be taken to pay port bills or conduct other port business.
Applications will be forwarded to current port commissioners. If an appointment is not made by Aug. 2, County Commissioners will make the appointment.
County Web site, www.kitsapgov.com/volunteer/frmbrdapp.htm. Or call Jan Koske at (360) 337-4650 or jkoske@co.kitsap.wa.us. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. Aug. 1.
