CKFR board adopts its 2005 levy

The regular levy funds and the EMS Levy fund were reviewed and adopted by the Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue Board of Fire Commissioners at their regular meeting on Monday.

By law, CKFR is allowed a 1 percent increase from the previous year. The regular levy at a 1 percent increase is $6,032,601 plus new construction values which are rounded to $200,000 because state assessed utility values are not yet known. A total of $6,232,601 was adopted into the expense fund of the District as regular levy funds. The passage of the 2004 EMS levy allowed 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation. Based on preliminary assessed valuation of real properties lying within the district for the calendar year 2005, $2,487,825 has been adopted into the EMS Levy. Final numbers can change slightly because CKFR is working with county estimated figures provided as of Nov. 2.

Although the two levy totals have been adopted by the board of fire commissioners, not all the levy money will be added to the 2005 revenue totals because CKFR cannot count on getting the full levy amounts for 2005 because not everyone pays their taxes on time. If everyone did, the adopted levy totals would match what is projected in the 2005 budget.
