Retired state Sen. Betti Sheldon thought she was out of active politics after the Democrat from Bremerton closed down her Olympia office at the end of last year after three terms.

Now she finds herself back in the maelstrom after last Wednesday’s announcement in Gov. Christine Gregoire’s inaugural address that Sheldon is co-chairing a special task force with Secretary of State Sam Reed on this year’s hottest topic — election reform.
