Next Silverdale Elementary principal tapped

On the first day of school next year, there will be a new face in the principal’s office at Silverdale Elementary School. The Central Kitsap School District Board of Directors hired Vicky Seachris, who is currently the principal at Amistad Elementary School in the Kennewick School District, during its regular meeting on March 9.

Before becoming the principal at Amistad, Seachris was a literacy specialist, a teacher on special assignment for reading and writing instruction and elementary level language arts. She also was an elementary school teacher in the Walla Walla School District.

While working in the Walla Walla School District, she served on a variety of district committees dealing with strategic planning, curriculum, learning standards and technology. She has experience in writing instruction and staff development for writing instruction and is a recipient of the Walla Walla Valley Education Association’s Excellence in Teaching Award.

Seachris will replace Jeff McCormick, who will become the principal at Woodlands Elementary School on July 1. Sheri Thomas, the current principal of Woodlands, is retiring at the end of the current school year. Thomas has been principal at Woodlands since 1992.
