Foundation bestows stethoscopes to paramedics

The Central Kitsap Medic One Foundations recent donation to Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue (CKFR) will enable firefighters/paramedics to listen to a beating heart a little more clearly.
Dr. Helen Butler, foundation co-chair, presented CKFR with seven advanced stethoscopes worth a combined total of more than $900. The foundation made a similar donation two years ago, but with changes in staffing, more were needed. Now all 18 firefighters/paramedics in CKFR will be equipped with the advanced stethoscopes.
Theyre a little bit more advanced than standard stethoscopes, Butler said. Theyre much more acoustically sensitive.
