Suspects sought in abduction

One man is in custody and police are looking for possible accomplices following the apparent abduction and assault of a 19-year-old Silverdale man March 23 in Navy Yard City.

Bremerton police officers arrested one of the suspects, 44-year-old Craig Allen Valentine, last week on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping. He was booked into Kitsap County Jail on $75,000 bail.

Kitsap County sheriffs deputies are investigating the alleged abduction that occurred about 8 p.m. near the intersection of Arsenal Way and West Loxie Eagans Boulevard.

The 20-year-old girlfriend of the victim reported to deputies that her boyfriend had been assaulted and forced into a white SUV by a group of black men. The woman told deputies the vehicle was a Ford Expedition with California license plates.

She told deputies some of the same people involved in the alleged abduction had arrived earlier at a residence she was visiting. They were looking for her boyfriend, she said. She apparently knew the suspects, KCSO reports stated.

At about 3 a.m., a sheriff’s detective observed the SUV, which had been reported stolen, entering northbound SR 3 from the Kitsap Way freeway on-ramp.

The 23-year-old female driver told deputies she had “borrowed” the Ford Expedition from an acquaintance’s residence on Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, without the owner’s permission then drove to West Park and “loaned” the SUV to one of the suspects.
