Goodies needed for Marines, soldiers

The Olympic College Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is collecting care packages to send to Marines and Washington State Army National Guard units respectively serving in Iraq with the Marine Detachment 1st Bulk Fuel Company Alpha and the Army 448 Civil Affairs Battalion. The care package items are being collected the the Bremer Student Center's Multicultural Office through May 6.

Items needed are:

— Letters of encouragement

— Cough drops

— Travel size bottles of aspirin

— Phone cards

— Sun block

— Hygiene Products (deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, disposable razors etc.)

— Chap Stick tubes or Carmax

— Baby Wipes and Cottenell Wipes

— Post cards, stamps, small notepad, pens and envelopes

— Dental floss

— Foot and body powder

— Feminine hygiene products

— Bug repellant (lotion type preferred)

— Toilet paper (individually wrapped preferred)

— White tube socks

— Kool-Aid, Crystal Light, or Gator-aid powder packets

— Disposable cameras

— Playing cards/chess/checkers/dominos/small puzzle books/small toys (frisbees, balls, etc.)

— Batteries

— Hand fans

— Cereal bars

— Hard candy (gum is ok!)

— Beef jerky/Slim Jims/pepperoni sticks

— Instant flavored coffee

— Sunflower seeds and nuts

Organizers also are in need of packing tape and gallon-size Ziplock bags. Among items not needed are soft candies such as chocolate and taffy, glass containers and aerosol cans.
